Charlotte Steele is a British singer, dancer, choreographer, and vocal coach best known as a member of the country-pop trio Remember Monday. Beyond her musical talents, Steele is a former West End child actor and deputy headteacher who represented the UK at Eurovision 2025.
She made her West End debut at age 10 as Jane Banks in Mary Poppins. After years of balancing creative education with performing, she left her deputy head role in September 2023 to pursue her music career full-time.
Imagine a sixth form in Bracknell. A hall full of teenagers halfway through rehearsals for We Will Rock You. Then Charlotte Steele, their coach, gets flown to Switzerland.
- Trained singer, dancer, choreographer and vocal coach.
- Debuted at the West End at 10, playing Jane Banks in Mary Poppins.

Charlotte Steele’s Age And Where She Is From
She was 31 when the Eurovision week happened in 2025, so she’s in her early thirties now. Capital FM states that she’s English, from near the Surrey and Hampshire border. Farnborough, Farnham, Fleet, Camberley, and Bracknell – the band has a foot in all of them.

From Mary Poppins To Panto Choreography
At the age of ten, she strolled onto a West End stage as Jane Banks in the original cast of Mary Poppins at Soho’s 1,700-seat Prince Edward Theatre—a theatrical sector where, according to the Society of London Theatre (SOLT), annual attendance reached 17.1 million theatregoers in 2024, generating £4.44 billion in economic turnover. Musical Theatre Review later noted that the band possessed a proper musical theatre pedigree, and her early West End training is a primary reason for it.
Then came the day job nobody sees. Choreography. WhatsOnStage has the receipts: Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, Madagascar, Jungle Book, High School Musical, Shrek and Jack and the Beanstalk. Ten-plus years in drama and dance schools, teaching kids to move.
The Deputy Head Who Swapped Marking For Music
Artemis College opened in Bracknell in 2018. She was there from day one as founding staff and climbed to deputy head. Its staff page says she dragged live-performance and music-production know-how into lessons.
And then the whole thing leaked.
What Her Students Made Of It
The BBC asked Principal Rosie Hill, a mate of hers, who said the excitement when it was confirmed still hasn’t faded. Student Jemma described the coach as being “whisked away to the big wide world of Eurovision”.
Ruby was gobsmacked. “It’s crazy to think that someone who is on Eurovision and is that talented and is meeting all these people actually taught us,” she said. Katie’s take? “If Charlotte can do it, we can do it.”
Mate Brad Clapson said it came from ‘years of grafting’. Hill agreed that’s the bit worth teaching. “It’s about teaching our students that you can work for something,” she said. And on Steele the person: “She’s just the most caring, loyal person, and that transfers across her friendships and her teaching style.”
How Remember Monday Came Together
At Sixth Form College, Farnborough, three seventeen-year-old girls, Steele, Lauren Byrne and Holly-Anne Hull, started singing together in 2013 under the name Houston, which became Remember Monday in 2018.
Why Monday? Free periods. They told Jennifer Hudson: “So Monday just kind of turned into our day, and then we just made it into an in-joke, like ‘Oh, don’t forget Monday’ or ‘See you on Monday, you better remember.'”
The Sun has told how they bunked classes to sing in whatever spare room they could find. Then lockdown hit and, as their agency Blackburn International tells it, they filmed a cappella covers in car parks. TikTok went daft for them.
Meet The Other Two
Byrne co-owns a musical theatre training company and has done Jane Seymour in Six, Miss Honey in Matilda, and Cinderella and Beautiful.
Hull sang at the Queen’s 80th at Windsor Castle, aged 11, barefoot — the Queen teased her about it, but it was the costume. She won Disney’s My Camp Rock in 2009, then did Phantom, Les Mis and Loserville with Bridgerton’s Luke Newton.
The Voice UK And The Leap To Full Time
In 2019, the group auditioned for The Voice UK with Seal’s “Kiss from a Rose”. All four chairs spun. They went with Jennifer Hudson, saw off Kieron Smith in the battles with “Home”, then lost at the knockouts, singing their own tune, “Jailbreaker”.
September 2023 is when it got serious. The Telegraph called it their “crazy decision”. All three quit their day jobs, with Steele stepping down from her deputy headship during a period when Department for Education (DfE) data showed over 40,000 state school teachers were leaving the profession annually in England. Secondary recruitment fell 38% below national targets.
By then, they had already opened for Billy Joel at British Summer Time in Hyde Park, supported Natasha Bedingfield, and performed at major festivals including Country to Country, The Long Road, and Buckle and Boots.

Eurovision 2025 In Basel
They are the first girl band to fly the flag since Precious in 1999. “Such a crazy honour,” they said, and they weren’t wrong.
The reveal was a shambles, mind. Radio 1’s Vicky Hawkesworth blurted it out on air on 7 February 2025. Scott Mills did the “official” announcement on Radio 2 weeks later regardless.
The song was “What the Hell Just Happened?”, basically the morning after a big night out. The result, per Wikipedia: 88 points from the juries, tenth on that scoreboard, then received null points from the public. Nineteenth overall. The single still hit 31 on the UK charts and seven on the indie charts.
What She’s Done Since
“Happier” in July 2025. “More Than Ever” in October. November brought “Perfect Day” with the BBC Philharmonic for Children in Need. Through 2026 they’ve been out supporting McFly, and writing with Danny Jones and Dougie Poynter gave them “Delusional” in May. TotalNtertainment covered the newest one, “Attention”, out this August.
Old Songs: “Find My Way”, “Version of You”, a Queen cover, “Let Down” and “Famous”. Two EPs, Hysterical Women (2023) and Crazy Anyway (2024), are also available. Every penny from “What the Girls’ Bathroom Is For” went to Mermaids, a charity for transgender young people.
